ITV Hub is the free mobile phone app that lets you access the ITV Hub online video-on-demand service. This multimedia software brings to you all of your favorite shows on its program list, right there in the comfort of your handheld device. You can watch live sports news using the app or even cast your show onto your television with its Chromecast support.

Formerly known as ITV Player, ITV Hub is an online video service accessible through the itv.com website. This service started as a website before being extended to television and other platforms. ITV Hub offers a variety of programs you can watch, from homegrown programs about various topics and subjects to imported shows across other services. Some sports shows are available to watch again on ITV Hub— like the past FIFA World Cups and its highlights. The shows are usually available for 30 days on ITV Hub and online after being first shown on the main ITV channel. ITV Hub as a whole is free to use, financially supported by advertisements playing in various points of the show you’re watching. However, if you wanted to get rid of the ads, there is a premium version of the service called ITV Hub+, even letting you download the shows.
Free and Handy
Using the ITV Hub app, you can use most of the benefits of the online website’s features without having to go on a computer or your television. Like the service, this app is free and has ads, but it’s not going to bombard you with so many of them. If you want virtually no ads, though, you can also get the ITV Hub+ subscription on it. It thankfully has a 7-day trial, so you can test to see if you’ll like it. Using the app, you can stream live television, use its catch-up feature to see any missed episodes, and even binge on the service’s offered box sets that contain various media for a certain show. The app will inform you of exclusive premieres and box sets that you can get. If you want a bigger screen, you can even use the app’s Chromecast support feature and cast the app’s screen to your own television. Take note, however, that you can’t cast live shows and that you’ll sometimes experience buffering issues depending on where you are. This app also doesn’t allow quick rewind or the ability to download shows, unlike the main service.
Stick to the Original
All in all, ITV Hub seems like a reliable service for those who’ve tried it. However, the mobile app itself doesn’t live up to its good performance and doesn’t have some of the features that made the main service a well-loved online video-on-demand service. You might be better off trying the online one itself.
